Merchants discover the benefits of in-store apps

Brick-and-mortar merchants are fighting back against mobile applications that encourage online buying with apps designed to drive in-store sales. Target's app lets smartphone users scan bar codes for prices, apps from Best Buy and Wal-Mart allows users to check for in-stock products, and ShopKick rewards customers for going to the store.
