Sorting through the pros and cons of Facebook in schools

Debate over a Missouri law that was enacted to stop the interaction of teachers and students on social media highlights the concerns educators face over the issue. Many teachers believe Facebook is critical for learning and engaging students. However, some worry about bullying and improper contact with students. "We need to have some sort of rules and guidelines for how you use social media ... but the goal should be to educate our students on what it means to participate in the world in which they live," said William Stites, a school technology director and blogger.
