Medtronic's smallest CoreValve heart device wins EU approval

European regulators have granted Medtronic CE mark approval to market CoreValve Evolut, a 23-millimeter transcatheter aortic valve. The implantable device, which is the smallest from the firm's CoreValve line, offers a minimally invasive treatment alternative to heart disease patients who are not fit for open-heart surgery.
