More college students are majoring in nutrition

A record number of students are enrolling in food science and nutrition degree programs at the University of Maine, reflecting an increased awareness among young adults of the importance of healthy eating. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesman Ryan O'Malley said Maine is following a nationwide trend as the number of college graduates in the nutrition field increased 84% from 2004 to 2011.
