ESMA reportedly rethinking derivatives-reporting rule

Patrick Pearson of the European Commission said at an industry conference in London that the European Securities and Markets Authority is looking into ways to resolve concerns about its upcoming reporting rules for exchange-traded derivatives. The industry had expected ESMA to postpone the rules for a year. However, ESMA is said to be sticking to the original timetable, while giving responsibility for reporting a trade to a repository to a single entity rather than requiring both sides of a trade to report.
