Rolls-Royce engine achieves higher performance for new Airbus

Rolls-Royce's new Trent XWB-97 engine has completed a critical design review, meeting the mark for greater thrust due to its higher flow-capacity fan, larger core and higher-capability turbines to power the fan, writes Guy Norris. The engine, which uses no more fuel than its predecessor, is destined for the Airbus A350-1000.
