Slate roof work brings challenge to restoration of Canadian college buildings

Installation of slate roofs has created a challenge as crews attempt to restore two of the oldest buildings at Ridley College in Ontario, Canada. New tiles for the 1904 Miller House and the 1915 Hamilton House had to be taken from a quarry in Vermont and another in Quebec to ensure they resemble the buildings' existing roofs. The tiles had to be segregated by thickness on-site to keep both of the roofs balanced, which added strain to the 10-week timetable of the project, according to this article.
