Survey: More employers incorporate penalties into wellness programs

The share of employers penalizing employees who do not participate in a wellness program will increase from 22% this year to 36% next year and 61% by 2016, a Towers Watson survey found. Most employers that impose penalties also offer positive incentives for wellness program participation, such as cash rewards, premium discounts and health savings account contributions.
