Scanning customers to gauge in-store marketing

Manufacturers including Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Kellogg and Miller and retailers Wal-Mart Stores, Albertsons, Kroger and Walgreens participated in a study that used infrared scanners in grocery store aisles to evaluate the effectiveness of in-store marketing. The scanners counted how many customers saw the ads but did not buy the brand products.
