Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has emerged as one of the Obama administration's principal policymakers, but his proposals are still being tested as the economy moves from recession into recovery. Geithner succeeded in achieving the administration's goals at the G-20 meeting, where increased financial coordination and limitations on bankers' pay were adopted and more restrictive measures favored by some participants were rejected. The battle for the administration's financial regulation package will be one of Geithner's toughest challenges.
