Luxury hotel crime a wake-up call on hotel security

In the wake of the recent murder of a guest at the Jumeirah Essex House hotel in New York City, allegedly by a housekeeping chief who had worked at the hotel for years, travelers are asked what kind of measures they take to protect themselves inside hotel rooms. A security expert, meanwhile, notes that the case should serve as a wake-up call to hoteliers that the workers who are entrusted with the day-to-day operation of their hotels should undergo background checks more than once.
