Federal grants will help livestock-feed inspection in Kansas

The Food and Drug Administration is providing $1.1 million in federal grants to the Kansas Department of Agriculture to boost animal-feed safety. The state agency will use a portion of the funds to add 50 annual inspections designed to ensure that animal feed produced in the state does not contain elements that could trigger bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
