Housing market faces tough months ahead

Even though home prices slightly increased from June to July, economists are predicting more declines in the months ahead. The expiration of a homebuyer's tax credit continues to hurt the market and decreased demand could pull prices even further down, experts say. "The housing market is in awful shape; it is probably as bad as it has been in 60 years," said Patrick Newport, an economist for IHS Global Insight.
