Smooth flight with a pet requires plenty of planning

Air travel with a dog or cat can be stressful and sometimes embarrassing, but owners can largely avoid tricky situations by planning ahead, experts say. Veterinarians can help determine whether an animal is well-suited to flying, says former AVMA President Gregory Hammer, adding that anti-nausea medications and limiting food and water beforehand may help prevent vomiting during the trip.
