Commentary: Financial system needs Basel III

Orlando Hanselman of Fiserv notes that bankers have suggested that the U.S. not adopt Basel III rules. Bankers are concerned that the rules, combined with the Dodd-Frank Act and other domestic rules, would put U.S. financial institutions at a competitive disadvantage to their foreign competitors. However, Mr. Hanselman argues that because financial crises are international in scope, the world's financial system needs global solutions to its problems.
