Propane tank in Maine is "critical" to serve residents, company says

Environmentalists are opposing DCP Midstream's proposed 137-foot-tall propane tank in Searsport, Maine. The company promised to address the residents' concerns, adding that the "facility is critical to serve the needs of Maine and the larger New England community during the winter" and could create jobs and investment opportunities, spokeswoman Lisa Newkirk said. The Maine Department of Transportation has approved the project, and the U.S. Coast Guard and the state Department of Environmental Protection are expected to announce their decision on the proposal soon.
