Report: Electric cars could help integrate wind power in grid

Electric vehicles equipped with technology that can recognize electric-grid conditions could help the Pacific Northwest grid accommodate more wind power, according to a report from the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. About 2.1 million electric vehicles equipped with so-called "Grid Friendly" technology, which can vary charging rates based on grid conditions, could help the grid accommodate up to 10 gigawatts more wind power, the report showed.
