Verizon, AT&T join group backing program-access rules

Officials from Verizon Communications and AT&T were among a large group urging Federal Communications Commission staffers to retain program-access rules -- or at least those pertaining to "non-replicable" content such as sports. The FCC is set to do away with rules that ban exclusive deals between multichannel TV operators and the cable networks they own. The group argued that the legal footing for the rules remains firm.
