Baxter, Aventis tapped to develop SARS vaccine

Baxter International and Aventis together received $18 million to develop a SARS vaccine. According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the companies were selected because of their experience producing similar vaccines for the flu and polio. Two companies were awarded the contract in an effort to double the chances of getting the job done.
