FDA zeroes in on drug distributors

Recent problems with counterfeit drugs have spurred the FDA to take a closer look at how it can strengthen oversight of drug distributors. An FDA task force on counterfeit drugs will release a plan this week focused on new technologies designed to better track medicines. The FDA and state agencies also are drawing up new guidelines for how to regulate wholesalers, a group that handles 80% of medicines distributed in the U.S.
