French fry sales take a hit

Health-conscious consumers are putting a wrinkle in french fry sales. Sales in the first quarter of 2003 were down by more than 5% from the same period last year, according to the United States Potato Board. Some speculate that the problem is negative publicity surrounding trans fatty acid, which is used to cook the fries.
