Dolly's U.K. creators apply for license for therapeutic human cloning

The scientists who created the sheep through reproductive cloning want to study cloned human embryonic cells from victims of motor neurone disease to learn how the disease develops and eventually find a cure. The application follows a successful bid by researchers in August for permission to clone human embryos for therapeutic purposes, in that case to develop treatments for debilitating diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and diabetes.
