Referendum would tie Oregon teacher pay to performance

Oregon voters in November again will take up the idea of tying teacher pay to student scores or other performance-based metrics. Teachers unions and some parents oppose the measure, saying it is too vague and could lead to more teaching to state exams and less focus on the whole students' needs. Oregon residents overwhelmingly voted down a similar proposal in 2000.
