Study: Pediatric heart pump performs well in U.S. trial

A U.S. study showed that Berlin Heart's Excor pediatric ventricular assist device helped eight out of nine children with severe heart failure stay alive long enough to receive a heart transplant. The study is part of a three-year, FDA-approved clinical trial of the German firm's pediatric pump for children in need of heart transplants.
