Chemical companies drive efforts to develop next-generation biofuels

Increasing support from the government and heightened concerns over unstable oil prices have combined to boost interest in developing next-generation liquid biofuels. Oil and chemical firms such as DuPont and BP have agreed to joint ventures with the goal of developing and commercializing cellulosic ethanol.
