U.K. scientist arrested over airport chemical leak

A science lecturer in Manchester, England, was arrested Monday on charges of endangering an aircraft after corrosive chemicals were found leaking from his luggage. The KLM flight to Amsterdam was about 15 minutes from takeoff when baggage handlers noticed a strong smell and security was notified. About 40 emergency personnel responded to the call, and two baggage handlers were sent to the hospital after coming in contact with the chemicals. Police searched the home of the suspect before determining there was no terror threat in the case.
