Christie outlines plans to overhaul teacher pay, tenure in N.J.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will seek to overhaul the state's system for determining teacher salaries and granting tenure. Christie is commissioning a task force to develop new teacher-evaluation system that will tie teacher pay, tenure, promotions and job security to student achievement. One special-education aide said the changes would harm students. "Teachers are scared for their jobs, and they're going to teach to the tests from the moment they get into the classroom," she said.
