FAA raises concerns about shooting range planned near Denver airport

A public shooting range planned for an area near the Denver International Airport could endanger planes approaching or departing from the airport, according to airport and Federal Aviation Administration officials. Meanwhile, county officials say they have addressed safety concerns. Denver International Airport planning manager Jeannette Stoufer said that aircraft approaching the airport would typically be at an altitude of about 500 feet above ground level over the proposed shooting range. She also said the shooting range would require frequent monitoring by the Department of Homeland Security.
