Study: Mammography may benefit women under 50 after all

The risk of dying from breast cancer was 29% lower in women in their 40s who had a mammogram compared with those who did not undergo the screening procedure, Swedish researchers reported. However, the study had major limitations and did not consider the harm of screening women in their 40s, including unnecessary biopsies and overtreatment.
