Talks are under way for sale of Kan. ethanol plant

Investment advisers Ascendant Partners has initiated exclusive talks with a prospective buyer of the shuttered Gateway Ethanol plant in Pratt, Kan., and has stopped seeking other offers, according to Kirk Martin, an Ascendant managing partner. The prospective buyer has shown interest in restarting the 55 million-gallon-per-year biorefinery, Martin said.
