Collaboration aims to heighten public awareness of counterfeit drugs

Global sales of counterfeit medicines reached $75 billion last year. Pfizer has teamed up with pharmacies to educate people on the risks of counterfeit drugs, with issues including unsanitary production, possible contamination and lack of medical training for those making such goods, and how to safely buy medicines online. Separately, the FDA and its foreign counterparts wrapped up a weeklong crackdown on illegal medical products sold via the Internet.
