Darnell aims to reassure Merrill Lynch brokers

David Darnell, who was recently appointed to lead Bank of America's Merrill Lynch brokerage, told the firm's financial advisers that he will do what it takes to improve results, including "get out of the way." "My job is to do everything I can to help and if not, I'm going to get out of the way," Mr. Darnell said. The brokerage's existing managers are "who's going to run this business, and I want to be very clear about that."
