USDA scientists develop a test for cattle bone disease

Department of Agriculture scientists have developed a test for marble bone disease in Red Angus cattle, a type of osteoporosis that causes abnormal brain and bone marrow development, as well as brittle bones. The scientists found in studying carrier DNA that a segment was deleted, allowing researchers to develop a test to identify potential carriers, which could help manage the disease.
