The Affordable Care Act will potentially allow millions of uninsured Americans to get insurance in the coming months, presenting Big Pharma with a new avenue to reach doctors and patients. Merck has a website that offers free health and diet tracking for patients and their doctors, providing the drug company lots of consumer data. Since the ACA also focuses on keeping patients out of hospitals, often through medication, pharmaceutical companies will focus marketing on creating a personal connection to help people take their medication properly.
