Fla. school garden offers lessons on food production, nutrition

Students at Summerfield Elementary School in Riverview, Fla., are learning how their food grows and establishing healthy eating habits by maintaining a "teaching garden" on the school's campus. Students built the garden and planted vegetables that they later plan to enjoy on a tasting day. "It's that real-world education," principal Derrick McLaughlin said, adding, "They'll see the life cycle of a plant. They'll read about plants."
