N.D. oil production could reach 1.6M barrels per day by mid-2017

North Dakota's oil fields could produce 1.6 million barrels per day by mid-2017, said Lynn Helms, director of the state Department of Mineral Resources. Helms also noted several risk factors that could affect production, including federal hydraulic fracturing regulations and possible oil tax reforms. "I do expect one or more of these risk factors to impact our ultimate peak production," he said.
