Report examines reasons behind functional food purchases

There are seven major reasons consumers purchase functional foods, according to a report from Abunda, including to manage chronic conditions and provide more nutritious breakfasts and snacks. "Consumers don't think in terms of 'functional foods,' but more in terms of, 'I like that product,' or 'that's a better choice than x,'" said Peter Leighton, founder and director.
