Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac receive subpoenas for documents

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York subpoenaed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for documents for a federal grand-jury investigation into the mortgage giants' accounting practices. Fannie and Freddie said the Securities and Exchange Commission also is looking into the situation. Meanwhile, the FBI said it is expanding its investigation into the mortgage-market meltdown to include Fannie, Freddie, Lehman Brothers and AIG.
