South Florida town may charge for responding to accidents

City Council members in Davie, Fla., may approve the billing of at-fault residents and out-of-towners for the cost of responding to car accidents, despite strong opposition from insurers. "We have been trying hard to fight back," said William Stander, assistant vice president of Property Casualty Insurers Association of America. "The idea that you should have to pay for police and fire services, it's offensive."
