Airports hope to set the standard for biometric security

U.S. air carriers and some 40 airports around the country are working together to implement biometric security measures for airport access by employees. The industry hopes to adapt and upgrade existing security systems, which were installed in the 1990s under government mandate. The previous security push was "just really messy," recalls consultant Lori Beckman, a former security director for Denver International Airport.
