Akamai introduces new high-def Web-video platform

Akamai, a content-delivery network, has introduced the Akamai HD Network, a streaming platform for high-definition online video that can be played on a variety of devices and formats, including Apple's iPhone, Microsoft's Silverlight and Adobe's Flash. Akamai President and CEO Paul Sagan said the system allowed users to control viewing by pausing, rewinding and switching between live and on-demand content.
