Developer asks judge to delay D.C. convention center hotel project

Developer JBG Cos. asked a judge in Washington, D.C., to delay construction of the already long-delayed Marriott convention center hotel that the D.C. Council finally approved in the spring. The company disputes the contracting process for the 1,167-room Marriott Marquis, saying city requirements that bidders for the project build on private land and finance the project with private money unfairly narrowed the pool of companies that could bid on the project.
