England's teachers may face scrutiny based on political party

England's Schools Secretary Ed Balls is investigating the political affiliations of the country's teachers, part of an investigation into racism in the schools. Balls said the investigation and subsequent report could lead to a ban on teachers having membership in the British National Party to protect students from racism, something teachers unions have been lobbying for. Police and prison workers are not allowed to be members of the party.
