St. Louis bridge to receive $1.4M safety makeover

The Martin Luther King Bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River between St. Louis and East St. Louis, Ill., will close for 12 days to receive a safety upgrade. The four-lane bridge will be converted into a three-lane roadway with wider lanes and a concrete barrier between the two directions to prevent crossover accidents. The $1.4 million project will be completed Oct. 24.
