Copper equipment helps reduce hospital bacteria, study shows

Researchers said that using copper for hospital bed rails, tray tables, chairs and other equipment eliminated 97% of hospital bacteria, including 100% of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The researchers also aim to determine whether rooms with copper equipment translate to fewer hospital-acquired infections among patients.
