Food safety to be back on tap after November elections

On Wednesday night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., prepared for a vote to end the food safety debate and pick up the issue after the Nov. 2 elections. The bill would give the Food and Drug Administration more authority, including the power to recall tainted products and increase inspections of food-producing facilities.
