New Jersey city council appoints openly gay member

The Jersey City City Council has voted unanimously to appoint Radames "Ray" Velazquez, an openly gay and HIV-positive municipal court judge, to an at-large seat that was recently vacated. "The gay and lesbian community today has a voice on this council," Velazquez said.
