Spill-research projects may secure $500M from BP, governors

BP and a coalition of Gulf Coast governors will allocate $500 million to fund research initiatives on the oil spill. Studies will concentrate on the disaster's impact on Gulf ecosystems, the chemical dispersants that helped dissolve crude oil and technological advancements that could enhance spill-response activities.
