U.S. military reports potential data breach

Almost 5 million military personnel and veterans may have had their personal data exposed as the Pentagon's health care system says unencrypted backup tapes are missing. The potential breach joins a list of 77 such incidents, representing 3.2 million records, reported this year by companies and other organizations. The potential military breach involves a decade's worth of files from medical treatment centers operated by the military in or near San Antonio.
