DIRECTV says it will invest about $40 million in an independent-film venture with startup movie studio A24 to bring movies to subscribers up to a month before they hit theaters. The video-on-demand service will concentrate on films with stars and will cost $10.99 to $12.99 per movie for a seven-day rental period.
